Happy New Year folks!
What an incredible story..
Just before New Year’s Eve, I sat down with Ron Dyens, founder of Sacrebleu and producer of the unique animated movie "Flow". We had a marvelous conversation about this extraordinary film, and as we wrapped up, I wished him the best of luck for the Golden Globes.
And here we are — "Flow" has won the prize!
Directed by Gints Zilbalodis, Flow isn’t just a film—it’s an experience. With no dialogue, it draws viewers into a meditative journey that feels both spiritual and deeply human, exploring themes of kindness, connection, and our place in the world.
In our conversation, Ron shared the profound vision that shaped Flow, and how it defies the conventions of animation. We dove into:
The film’s reflections on spirituality, animalism, and the divine.
How Flow redefines animation as a medium to explore profound human and existential themes.
The resilience and determination it took to navigate film festivals and achieve worldwide acclaim.
Why Flow resonates so deeply with audiences, touching hearts and minds alike.
Hearing Ron speak about the film’s themes of collective consciousness, kindness, and humanity, I couldn’t help but be reminded of the unique power of storytelling to connect us on a deeper level.
💬 Some of the most striking thoughts from our conversation:
“I was totally captivated, hypnotized by the film.”
“This film tells us to stop, let’s try to stop.”
“It’s a generous film that does good to humanity.”
Flow is more than just an animated film—it’s a reminder of the beauty and importance of pausing, reflecting, and finding kindness in ourselves and others.
I was truly struck by the profound humanity of Ron —there’s no doubt that he was the one with the guts, bravery, and vision to produce a film as bold and unconventional as Flow.
Again, huge congratulations to the team! A Long Overdue Triumph for Indie Animation.
And now, what’s next fro “Flow”? Winning an Oscar?
Enjoy the podcast!
